SAN DIEGO–Customs and Border Protection Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske has selected Mark Morgan as Chief of the U. S. Border Patrol.
Morgan is currently an assistant director with the FBI and since 2014, has served in a joint duty assignment with the CA Border Patrol as the Acting Assistant Commissioner for Internal
Affairs. He has also had distinguished careers with the U. S. Marine Corps, Sheriff’s Department in Platte County, Missouri, and as an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.
“Mark Morgan will bring a depth and breadth of experience to the Border Patrol at this critical juncture. As the Special Agent in Charge of the El Paso Division of the FBI, he was keenly aware of how critical interagency collaboration is when addressing issues on the southwest border,” Sheriff Bill Gore commented. “He will be the Chief to take this vital agency to the next level and I look forward to supporting him and the men and women of the U. S. Border Patrol.”
Sheriff Gore also advised his associates at the FBI have uniformly praised Morgan’s multi-faceted career and extensive knowledge of security issues.
