ENCINITAS–A Coaster train struck and killed a pedestrian in Encinitas, authorities said Monday.
Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station’s Transit Enforcement Unit received a report just after 3 p.m. of a pedestrian who was struck by the train near Chesterfield Drive and San Elijo Avenue. Upon arrival, the victim was dead, Sheriff’s Deputy spokesman Brian Abraham said.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will make a positive identification of the body pending notification of the family.
