San Diego, CA–A 21-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after he was struck by a motorcyclist near Pacific Beach early Sunday morning, authorities said.

According to San Diego police, the incident occurred just before 2 a.m. at 1100 Garnet Avenue. The 30-year-old motorcyclist was traveling eastbound when he struck the pedestrian walking northbound across Garnet Avenue.

Paramedics treated the pedestrian and transported him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The motorcyclist was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators believe alcohol could be a factor in the collision.
