OCEANSIDE–A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle as he crossed an intersection in Oceanside on Friday, Oceanside police said Saturday.

Oceanside police responded to a 8:22 p.m. report of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian at 4147 Oceanside Blvd. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male lying in the westbound lanes. Life saving measures were immediately performed by the officers on scene followed by Oceanside Paramedics. The unidentified 35-year-old male was pronounced dead on scene, Oceanside Police Department Sgt. Rick Davis said.

Authorities believe the man was crossing Oceanside Blvd. between intersections and was struck by the vehicle in the number two lane of westbound Oceanside Blvd. The 60-year-old female driver was traveling westbound on Oceanside Blvd. and didn’t see the pedestrian walking in the road. Following the collision, the driver remained on scene and was cooperative with police.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in this collision. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification to his family.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle collision is asked to call Accident Investigator David Paul at (760) 435-4431.
