OCEANSIDE–A man was stabbed several times in a physical altercation on Wednesday at an Oceanside park, authorities said Thursday.

The victim and the suspect, identified as 36-year-old Joseph Sustaita of Oceanside, had been involved in an altercation, just before 10:30 p.m., near Vista Way and Snead Drive.

The victim was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital where he is currently in stable condition and the injuries are considered not to be life threatening.

A Sheriff’s K9 was used to track Sustaita to his mother’s apartment in the 3200 block of Paseo De Laura in Oceanside. He refused to answer the door when police attempted to contact him. A search warrant was obtained and the Oceanside SWAT team served the warrant. Sustaita was arrested and later booked into the Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
