San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.

SAN ONOFRE–The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will conduct a virtual public meeting and webinar on March 25 to discuss enforcement decisions and recent inspection activities at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station.

The San Clemente plant, owned by Southern California Edison, was permanently shut down in 2013.

The webinar will begin with a presentation by Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff on the agency’s final enforcement decision regarding findings of a special inspection conducted at the plant following an Aug. 3 fuel-loading incident documented in the commission’s inspection report.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will also discuss preliminary findings and observations of recent inspections to independently verify the adequacy of corrective actions at the plant.

Members of the public will have an opportunity to submit written comments and questions via the webinar user interface. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will provide participation guidance during the webinar from 12-3 p.m.

Interested members of the public should register for the webinar on the NRC website, at which time a confirmation e-mail will be sent with details for joining the webinar via computer or mobile device. There is an option to listen via a phone bridge; however participants must first register for the webinar to obtain the phone bridge number.
