EL CAJON–The City of El Cajon Teen Coalition is accepting applications from youths to join the coalition.

The applications are being circulated at El Cajon middle schools, high schools, recreation centers and are available on the City’s website.

The Teen Coalition provides opportunities for teens to develop leadership skills, discuss important issues impacting El Cajon’s youth, get involved through community service, and represent the City’s youth.

  • Teen Coalition candidates must be residents of El Cajon or attend a school within the city limits, be in grades 6th through 12th and be under the age of 19 years old as of September 1, 2018.
  • Interested youth can submit a completed application by October 4, 2018, to the Recreation Department at City Hall, located at 200 Civic Center Way, El Cajon, CA 92020.

The ongoing goals of the City’s Teen Coalition are to “engage, educate and empower!” Teen Coalition members will learn about City services and explore problem-solving strategies regarding youth issues.

The Teen Coalition sponsors the annual “Youth of the Year” award. The award highlights youth who go above and beyond in serving their community. The group also creates an annual community service project.

The Teen Coalition meet at the Renette Recreation Center.
