Oceanside, CA–A tragic incident unfolded at the intersection of Oceanside and College Boulevards when a vehicle struck three pedestrians as they crossed the roadway. One of the pedestrians later died at a local hospital, authorities said.
At around 7:34 p.m., a gray Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Oceanside Blvd. when the vehicle struck three pedestrians who were crossing the roadway, approximately 100 yards west of the intersection of College Blvd.
First responders arrived at the scene, and all three pedestrians were transported to the hospital for medical attention. One of the pedestrians succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at Tri City Medical Center shortly after the incident. The other two pedestrians were transported to Palomar Medical Center with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Authorities confirmed that the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and speed was not considered a contributing factor.
The identity of the deceased pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation into the incident.
