Oceanside, CA–Five individuals have been arrested in connection with a physical assault that took place last summer at the Oceanside Harbor, according to authorities.
Jorge Perez and Pablo Gonzalez were arrested on September 3 and booked into the Vista Detention Facility on multiple felony charges. On September 15, Franco Barahona of Lakeside was taken into custody in Oceanside, followed by the arrest of Sergio Resendiz from Yucca Valley on October 3. On Thursday, Steven Paz of San Diego was arrested. Barahona and Resendiz were booked into Vista Detention Facility, while Paz was taken to San Diego Central Jail, all facing several felony charges.
The incident occurred on August 17, when Oceanside Police responded to reports of an altercation at 1400 North Harbor Drive. Witnesses reported seeing two suspects attacking multiple individuals with baseball bats before fleeing the scene. Several victims were treated at local hospitals for various injuries.
A follow-up investigation by Oceanside Police gang detectives identified the five suspects involved, and authorities have labeled the assault as gang-motivated.
Despite concerns, police emphasized there is no connection between this case and recent homicides and assaults in the area.
