ENCINITAS–A North County patient at a healthcare facility has tested “presumptive positive” for coronavirus March 6, according to the City of Encinitas.
The hospital laboratory test came back positive but they are still waiting for a positive diagnosis from the CDC. The patient is in isolation at Scripps Encinitas and not a risk for additional spread of illness at the hospital or in the community.
The City of Encinitas continues to closely monitor the coronavirus situation and stay up-to-date on all new information emerging across San Diego county and the United States.
We support taking an “All of Community” approach to focus our efforts to slow the transmission of COVID-19, reduce illness, and minimize the social and economic impacts of the situation,” according to City of Encinitas officials. “Together we can approach this unprecedented time to keep our families, friends, neighbors, businesses, and community healthy.”
Staff were in contact with San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency for guidance on the response. The office has been able to identify any staff or patients potentially exposed, and the county health agency has been given the names of those individuals.
As of March 13, San Diego county has 8 presumptive positive cases, 0 positive (confirmed cases), 38 patients under investigation pending results, and 99 patients who have tested negative.
