CAMPO–A man’s body was discovered Wednesday by U.S. Border Patrol agents on a trail near State Route 94 in Campo.
The agents found the body shortly after 8 a.m. near Shockey Truck Trail. Sheriff’s department deputies and fire personnel responded to the scene, but he was pronounced dead by fire personnel.
Based on the injuries and circumstances, the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
The identity of the man is known to investigators; however, his name is being withheld pending family notification.
