SAN DIEGO–U.S. Marshals and the San Diego Fugitive Task Force arrested a 37-years-old man from Mexico in connection with the murder of a Mountain View man 16 years ago, authorities said Thursday.
The suspect, Alfredo Yanez-Munoz, was taken into custody July 21 by Mexican authorities then transferred to U.S. Deputy Marshals. Yanez-Munoz was booked into county jail and charged with murder.
On September 18, 1999, Wilberto Rodriguez was shot and killed in front of a residence in the 4300 Block of Newton Avenue in the Mountain View community. San Diego police homicide detectives learned Rodriguez was involved in a physical altercation with two males who produced handguns and shot him. Detectives identified then 22-year-old George David Garcia and then 20-year-old, Yanez-Munoz as the murder suspects. On October 8, 1999, Garcia was arrested and charged with murder.
