CARLSBAD—A female jogger has died from her injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Carlsbad, officers said on Sunday.

The 7:13 a.m. accident occured in the 3800 block of Carlsbad Blvd. Officers responded and found that a 1998 Ford Expedition, driven by a 52-year-old Oceanside man, had collided with the female adult pedestrian.

Carlsbad Fire Department personnel provided medical treatment to the injured woman, and transported her by ambulance to Tri City Hospital where she later died.

 A preliminary investigation has revealed that the Ford Expedition was driving northbound on Carlsbad Blvd. north of Tamarack Avenue.  The woman appears to have been jogging northbound on the east sidewalk in the 3800 block of Carlsbad Blvd.  For an unknown reason the Ford Expedition swerved onto the sidewalk colliding with the woman.

The identity of the woman will be not be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office until family notifications have been made.

Officers say alcohol or drug intoxication is not suspected to be involved in the collision.
