Oceanside, CA–Four adults, three children, and three pets were displaced by a condo fire that broke out Sunday afternoon in Oceanside, fire officials said.

The Oceanside Fire Department, along with Vista and Carlsbad firefighters responded shortly before 12:20 p.m. to the fire located at 545 Lands End Way.

When fire crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the unit’s second-story balcony. They entered the unit to perform a search for any potential victims and to extinguish the fire.

One adjoining unit did suffer extreme smoke damage from the fire, and a unit below had water damage due to the water that was applied to the fire in order to extinguish it.

The American Red Cross was on the scene to assist the family with temporary shelter.

The resident of the involved unit stated that he was alerted by a smoke detector which caused him to evacuate the structure.

No residents or firefighters were injured in the fire.
