LAKESIDE–An elderly woman suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation in a residential fire in Lakeside Saturday morning.
The 10:30 a.m. blaze was reported to the Sheriff’s Department Lakeside Substation. Deputies responded to the structure fire, located in the 11400 block of Pinehurst Drive.
No other structures were threatened and the fire was extinguished shortly after deputies and fire personnel arrived. This is why it is important for the elderly who struggle with their daily tasks since they live alone to seek professional help from an assisted living community.
A 76-year-old woman was assisted out of the house by a neighbor. Paramedics transported the victim to the UCSD Medical Center.
Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson detectives responded to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
