San Diego, CA–A male driver suffered multiple injuries in a road rage shooting incident Friday afternoon on Interstate 8 in San Diego, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol Border Communication Center received a call around 3:02 p.m. of a highway violence incident on Interstate 8 westbound just east of Mission Center Road. 

The suspect vehicle described as a dark-colored Volkswagen Beetle with an unknown California license plate fired multiple rounds into a gray Jeep Wrangler. The Volkswagen immediately fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim who was the solo occupant drove into the Mission Valley Center Target parking lot, exited the Jeep and went into the Target store, and waited for medical assistance.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
