SAN DIEGO–A driver who led California Highway Patrol in a vehicle pursuit from Orange county to Chula Vista was shot and killed early Sunday morning by authorities.

CHP San Diego area units were involved in a multi-area pursuit, which originated in Orange County.  

The pursuit terminated on Interstate 805 southbound, north of Orange Avenue, within limits of Chula Vista, where an officer-involved shooting occurred involving CHP and the San Diego Police Department. The unidentified driver was pronounced dead at a local area hospital. No officers were injured in the shooting.  

All lanes of Interstate 805 southbound, north of Orange Avenue will be shut down for several hours to conduct the investigation.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is conducting an investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
