San Diego, CA–A female pedestrian was killed late Friday night in a suspected hit-and-run near the San Diego Harbor, authorities said.
Port of San Diego Harbor Police officers responded around 11:30 p.m. to reports of a person down in the westbound lanes near the 4400 block of North Harbor Drive. Officers arrived to find a pedestrian with severe injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by first responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification to her family. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will handle the identification.
Police said the vehicle involved fled before officers arrived and is believed to have sustained front-end damage in the collision. Investigators are working to identify the driver and vehicle.
