MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR–MCAS Miramar Fire Stations 61 and 62, alongside local San Diego fire departments will be conducting controlled burns on East Miramar from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday to mitigate the risks of wild fires on and around MCAS Miramar.

Additionally, the MCAS Miramar Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) is scheduled to conduct training on the airfield beginning at 6 a.m. on Friday.

The training involving ARFF will include a series of controlled burn exercises. The fires are part of the unit’s routine training program using the Mobile Aircraft Fire Training Device. Some flames and smoke from both training events may be visible from nearby roadways. No visibility restrictions are expected and these fires are in a controlled environment.
