CARLSBAD–The American Society of Civil Engineers presented the City of Carlsbad’s Pine Avenue Community Center and Gardens project with the 2019 Outstanding Project award in the category of Community Improvement.

The civil engineers organization will honor the City of Carlsbad at an annual awards luncheon on April 26 at The Dana on Mission Bay in San Diego.

The 8.2 acre Pine Avenue Community Park, located in the Barrio neighborhood at the intersection of Pine Avenue and Harding Street, is home to a new inter-generational community center that offers the city’s teen programs, youth day camps, classes for all ages, open gym hours and the Senior Center, according to the City of Carlsbad’s website.

The city’s civil engineering subconsultant, BergerABAM, nominated the Pine Avenue Community Center and Gardens project for the prestigious award.
