SAN DIEGO–First 5 San Diego, the region’s primary organization for improving the lives of children through five years of age, has unveiled their newly redesigned website.

Launching during of The Week of The Young Child, an annual observance celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families, this new website, designed by Smart Whistle, will increase access to information on First 5 San Diego’s projects and services.

“We are very excited about the improvements we have made to our website, which provides critical information to enhance the quality of life for San Diego’s youngest children and their families,” said Alethea Arguilez, First 5 San Diego executive director. “The changes enrich our efficient, customer-focused network where continuity of care and quality of service are a priority.”

The new website which uses wordpress hosting has a vibrant design, improved functionality and augmented content focused on the First 5 San Diego Commission’s mission to support the well-being of children, families and societies. The redesign starts with the homepage—bringing the community calendar, Commission news and featured programs and events to the forefront. The navigation bar was enhanced and reorganized for greater ease of access to new parent kits, information about programs and much more.

New to the website is a live Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus link on every page, enabling parents and caregivers to easily connect to the First 5 San Diego tips and tools through multiple platforms. The videos page also received a makeover, including more content both in English and Spanish encouraging parents to talk, read and sing with their children.

Parents and caregivers will continue to find parenting tools such as healthy development guides, oral health tips, and a healthy start section to help with nutrition guidelines and healthy, child-friendly recipes.

“We encourage parents and caregivers to explore our redesigned website,” said Arguilez. “Our goal is to make it a direct reflection of our core values and vision—the healthy development of children ages zero through five in San Diego County.”
