Coronado, CA–The Coronado shoreline will be transformed into a sun-soaked Greek island as the Coronado Island Film Festival brings back its beloved “Movie on the Beach” fundraiser on July 11.
The event, hosted on the sands outside the historic Hotel del Coronado, will feature a sunset screening of the film, “Mamma Mia!” and promises a night full of music, memories, and movie magic.
Presented in partnership with the Auen Foundation, this year’s Beach Bash invites guests to sing along to ABBA’s greatest hits under the stars, all while soaking in the coastal charm of Coronado. The evening marks the official countdown to CIFF’s milestone 10th Anniversary Film Festival, which will take place November 5-9.
Themed attire is highly encouraged, and attendees are urged to don their most dazzling disco gear—think bell bottoms, sequins, and all things ABBA-fabulous—for a chance to win prizes and revel in the festive atmosphere. The fun begins early with a pre-show beach dance party hosted by Sue Allen Villalva and her troupe of Dancing Queens, who will set the tone with classic summer anthems and energetic grooves.
Guests can enjoy themed cocktails at a cash bar, take part in an opportunity drawing, and pose for beachy photo ops—all set against the glow of a California summer sunset. Proceeds from the evening will support CIFF’s nonprofit mission, funding year-round programming, filmmaker support, educational initiatives, and the annual five-day festival that draws audiences and talent from around the world.
General admission is $40 and includes access to both the pre-party and the film. VIP packages and sponsorship opportunities are also available, offering premium fire pit seating for up to six guests—perfect for families, friends, or corporate groups looking to make the most of this unforgettable evening.
Tickets and additional information on sponsorships can be found at coronadofilmfest.com or by contacting Event Chair Doug St. Denis at doug@coronadofilm.com.
