SAN DIEGO–The Film Consortium San Diego, producer of the annual San Diego Film Awards and San Diego Film Week, have announced that they have obtained non-profit 501c3 status for their organization.

The Film Consortium 501c3 will continue to produce these popular annual events as well as expand its operations to create more funding and educational and creative opportunities for professionals and students as well as underrepresented groups such as women and minorities.

The existing LLC will continue to run separately under the DBA “Film Consortium Studios.” Film Consortium Studios will focus on funding, distribution and production of broadcast TV, film and new media content utilizing San Diego based cast and crew.

“We’ve experienced a significant amount of growth since our inception, a little over 5 years ago”, said Jodi Cilley the Founder of the Film Consortium San Diego. “Non-profit status will allow us to seek new types of funding including grants and donations to aid our educational and outreach programs, while still allowing Film Consortium Studios to seek investors and partners for professional San Diego based productions.”

Cilley is thrilled with the success of the organization, which has risen to prominence as an epicenter of local filmmakers, actors and productions.  With this new structural shift, she hopes to be able to provide even more opportunities for local filmmakers, cast and crew.

“We are actively looking for tax-deductible donations as well as investors and philanthropists who want to see San Diego’s film industry grow and thrive,” she added.  “We’ve built the base of something great, now we need help to bring it to the next level.”
