SAN DIEGO–In an effort to make theatre more accessible, Cygnet Theatre introduced a new pricing structure in conjunction with it’s 16th season.

The pricing is broken down into three tiered levels with three ways to buy. Patrons can either subscribe to a season package, purchase a Cygnet Member Card, or buy single tickets. Ticket prices for productions beginning next season will run $25 to $60.

The new pricing model is designed to reward early ticket buying, while offering the lowest possible price to all patrons. Subscribers will still receive the lowest ticketed price for plays and musicals in addition to the subscription benefits that will continue to be offered including unlimited exchanges, ticket replacement, guaranteed seats, unlimited TIER1 pricing on additional tickets, discounts on concessions, and invitations to VIP events.

Purchasing a Cygnet Member Card allows patrons to buy unlimited tickets at the best price at any time. Single tickets will be available for purchase on the tiered pricing scale, increasing over time.

“By encouraging early ticket purchases through this new pricing structure, we hope to re-enforce positive customer buying habits” says Executive Director Bill Schmidt. “It will allow Cygnet, which is a non-profit organization, to streamline sales and marketing efforts. At the same time, it gives more people access to the lowest possible ticket price”.

The new pricing structure is broken down in the following way:

TIER1 – The best price for the best available seat. This is $25 for a play and $35 for a musical, ($20 and $30 for previews). Ways to get preferred TIER 1 pricing:

Subscribe to a 5 or 8 play package. Subscribers will get to keep their same seats or even move to a better seat for the same price. Subscribers will have the first opportunity to buy and therefore lock in the best prices first. Any additional tickets purchased by subscribers will get TIER 1 pricing at any time.

Purchase a member card. A member card allows unlimited TIER 1 pricing for active members. (Members can join at any time and membership is good for one year). The annual member card price will be $39 per household. Members cannot buy tickets to shows until the shows go on sale to the public.

Buy tickets early – Up to 3 months before the first preview for any show. These tickets are limited and once a certain allocation of tickets are sold, the price will go up and TIER2 pricing will be in effect.

TIER2 – Still a great price for the best available seat. Cygnet will determine when TIER2 is implemented, in general 2 months prior to the start of the production up to 2 weeks prior. This is $35 for a play and $45 for a musical, ($25 and $35 for previews). In the event of high demand for a production, TIER2 pricing may be skipped with TIER3 pricing going in effect immediately after TIER1 has expired.

TIER3 – Best available at the last minute. Cygnet will determine when TIER3 pricing is implemented but generally 2 weeks prior to the first preview through the run of the show. This is $45 for a play and $55 for a musical.

Opening night tickets will be available for purchase for $60 and will not change with the tiered structure.

New subscription sales and Cygnet Membership Cards are now available. The cards can be purchased in person at the box office located at 4040 Twiggs Street in San Diego Old Town Historic State Park, by calling (619) 337-1525, or by visiting www.cygnettheatre.com.
