SAN DIEGO–Broadway/San Diego ~ A Nederlander Presentation announced its 2014-2015 season chock-full of top award-winning productions including fifteen Tony Awards, and four Grammy Awards for Best Musical Theater Album –and six shows currently playing on Broadway.
This year’s powerful season lineup will be presented at the San Diego Civic Theatre, and sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union.
Kicking off this season is Broadway’s new high-heeled hit, Kinky Boots, the winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score for Grammy-winner Cyndi Lauper. Also coming home to San Diego is the much anticipated return of Jersey Boys which premiered at La Jolla Playhouse and went on to win four Tony Awards including Best Musical and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards, Pippin is back on tour for the first time since it thrilled audiences 40 years ago. It is time to get the whole family together for the long-awaited lush production of Rodgers + Hammmerstein’s Cinderellla and Broadway/San Diego takes you back in time with iconic tunes from the past in Dirty Dancing-The Classic Story on stage and for the first time in San Diego, one man’s story became everyone’s music in Motown The Musical.
Added season events this year is the musical Wicked, declared “A Cultural Phenomenon” by Variety and “The Best Musical of the Decade” by Entertainment Weekly. And, Blue Man Group will once again thrill San Diego with its high-octane theatrical experience.
