Oceanside Library to host photo exhibition on homelessness

By SDCN Staff

Oceanside, CA–The Oceanside Public Library will host a new photography exhibition on homelessness that opens on January 29 at the Civic Center Library and will be on view through March 13.

The exhibit, The Road I Call Home, by artist Randy Bacon, documents the stories of 32 people experiencing homelessness – men, women, and children – to build compassion for the unhoused community. The photographic portraits, from the lens of award-winning photographer and humanitarian Randy Bacon, reveal the beauty, dignity, and identity of each person.

The public is invited to an art reception and film screening exploring the exhibit. Jordan Verdin of Humanity Showers will be the feature speaker at the event on January 31 at 5 p.m. at the Civic Center Library, located at 330 North Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside.

The Road I Call Home is a project by Bacon, the founder and creative behind the nonprofit 8 Billion Ones. The installation is sponsored by Exhibit Envoy, a nonprofit whose mission is to provide institutions with diverse and meaningful traveling exhibitions to strengthen communities. The programs offered as part of this exhibit are sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.
