OCEANSIDE–Art enthusiasts throughout San Diego county gathered in downtown Oceanside to celebrate the arts at the 24th annual Oceanside Days of Art.
Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation hosted the two-day juried event as an opportunity to showcase more than 100 artists and artisans from San Diego and neighboring counties.
Works from painters, sculpture makers, and artists specializing in stained glass, ceramics, fine jewelry, and photography were displayed on Coast Highway and Pier View Way.
Linda Watkins, owner of Art Adventure Kids Fine Art Studio, has participated in Days of Art for about 5 years. At her booth, Watkins offered free hands-on activities for kids and adults.
“I think it’s very rewarding for kids and adults to get the feel and the passion for art,” Watkins said. “There’s a need for art and by doing art it just makes your life better all around.”
The event also featured live stage performances, hands-on activities for children and adults, street chalk art creations, painting and sculpture demonstrations, and a variety of delicious edibles at the food court.
Proceeds from the event will be used to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors from North County San Diego who are pursuing visual and performing arts degrees, and city art-related events.
