Lemon Grove, CA–The Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Substation has reported the results of a DUI and Driver’s License checkpoint held on March 16.
The checkpoint operated between 2 and 10 p.m. near Broadway and Kempf Street in the City of Lemon Grove.
During the operation, 922 vehicles passed through the checkpoint. Approximately 77 were directed to a secondary evaluation area for further inspection.
The results of the DUI checkpoint include 3 evaluations, 2 alcohol arrests, no drug arrests, 20 citations for unlicensed driving, and 2 vehicles towed.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the importance of safe and sober driving, noting that impaired driving isn’t limited to alcohol. Prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and marijuana — whether used medicinally or recreationally — can all impair driving abilities. Driving under the influence of marijuana remains illegal.
This checkpoint operation was made possible by funding from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
