Juvenile injured in electric motorcycle collision in Carlsbad

By Gina Yarbrough

Carlsbad, CA–A juvenile riding an electric motorcycle was injured in a vehicle collision on Thursday evening, according to authorities.

The Carlsbad Police Department responded to reports of a traffic collision at the intersection of Batiquitos Drive and Daisy Avenue shortly after 8 p.m.

When officers arrived on the scene they discovered the injured rider in the intersection, where bystanders were assisting. Carlsbad Fire Department personnel treated the juvenile for major injuries before transporting them to the hospital for further care.

The driver, a 39-year-old Carlsbad resident, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators.

The identity of the injured juvenile has not been released.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, though police have ruled out drugs or alcohol as contributing factors.

The Carlsbad Police Department is asking for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Traffic Investigator Corporal Matt Bowen.
