Camp Pendleton, CA–Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton officials have identified the 21-year-old Marine who died in a tactical vehicle accident on December 3 at the base.
Private First Class Tanner F. Rubio was a native of Dixon, California. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 2025 and trained as an infantry rifleman. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
“The tragic loss of Pfc. Rubio is one felt across the 1st Marine Division,” said Maj. Gen. Thomas Savage, commanding general of the division. “He will be sorely missed, but his honorable service to his country will not be forgotten. All of us at the Blue Diamond will keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
Officials confirmed the mishap occurred during training unrelated to Exercise Steel Knight 25. The incident remains under investigation, and no further details have been released to preserve its integrity.
