Denver, CO–Port of Subs has expanded its national franchise network with the appointment of Mandy Miller as its 19th Regional Developer in San Diego, a milestone that brings the company closer to its target of 20 developers nationwide.
Miller will oversee development across the South Bay region, including Coronado and Chula Vista, with plans to open at least 10 new locations and pursue further expansion into adjacent markets over time.
Port of Subs is a regional American sandwich chain specializing in made-to-order submarine sandwiches prepared with fresh ingredients. The company primarily operates locations across the western United States.
According to the company, Miller brings more than a decade of franchising and development experience to her new role, having previously helped scale a wellness franchise from one location to more than 50 units nationwide. Her background spans franchise sales, real estate, site development, and construction; expertise that she will leverage to establish and grow the Port of Subs footprint across Southern California alongside her father and business partner, Jim Rowe. As a fourth-generation resident of the area, Miller has deep roots in the community, making it a natural and strategic place for her to expand the brand. The duo will lead franchise sales and support for a territory that currently has no active Port of Subs locations, positioning the region as a high-priority growth market for the brand.
“We were immediately drawn to the strength of the Port of Subs model and the team behind it, but what really stood out was the opportunity to build something meaningful in our own community,” said Miller. “San Diego represents a unique white space for the brand, and we see tremendous opportunity to thoughtfully grow the footprint while establishing a strong, locally rooted franchise network across the region.”
The appointment emphasizes Port of Subs’ broader strategy to expand with experienced Regional Developers who can build, scale, and support local franchise networks.
The unique model offers regional developers the opportunity to act as self-sufficient local extensions of the brand-driving growth in the region while building on an established foundation. With over 50 years in business, a strong leadership team, and the backing of franchise growth engine Area 15 Ventures, both regional developers and franchisees benefit from experienced operational, marketing, and technology support and a proven pathway to scalable growth. Within the role, Miller plans to focus initially on franchise sales before transitioning to long-term operational support, ensuring consistency, brand compliance, and sustained performance across the market as it scales.
“Mandy and Jim bring a rare combination of development expertise and proven franchise leadership, having successfully scaled a brand from a single location to more than 50 units,” said Healey Mendicino, CEO and President of Port of Subs. “Their experience across real estate, construction, and franchise growth, as well as their long history in the community, makes them exceptionally well-positioned to build and support a high-performing network in San Diego as we continue to expand.”
