San Diego, CA–A new online marketplace is bringing farm-fresh produce from across San Diego County directly to consumers’ doorsteps.
Navore Market, launched this month, is the region’s first online platform dedicated exclusively to connecting the public with local farmers and food producers.
The site features offerings from area farms, including Hukama Produce, Rodney Kawano Farms, Eli’s Farms, and Heritage Family Farms. Shoppers can order directly from producers, customize their selections, and choose delivery or pickup at farm stands and farmers’ markets.
Navore was founded by La Jolla resident Caroline Driehaus, who envisioned the service as a way to simplify access to local food while keeping profits in the hands of farmers.
“At Navore, we believe fresh, local food should be as accessible as imported goods lining grocery store shelves,” said Driehaus, Navore’s founder and CEO. “As we continue to connect consumers with locally grown food, we’re creating new income opportunities for local farmers and strengthening our local economy.”
Hukama Produce is a Ramona-based, family-run farm founded in 2015 by Byron and Joyce Nkhoma. Originally from Zimbabwe, the Nkhoma family sells pesticide-free produce at the Hillcrest Farmers Market each Sunday and is now expanding its reach through Navore.
“While we sell at the Hillcrest Farmers Market every Sunday, it’s important for us to reach people who can’t always make it there,” said Byron Nkhoma. “A platform like Navore helps ensure that more families and neighborhoods still have access to our food while providing our business with an additional revenue stream and distribution methods we didn’t previously have.”
Navore is supported by a grant from the USDA’s Local Food Promotion Program, which funds initiatives that expand access to local food and support small- to mid-sized farmers. Under the program, San Diego producers can sell on the platform free of charge through 2026.
