San Diego, CA–The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality has lifted beach closures across the county after recent water quality tests confirmed that samples meet California health standards, deeming the affected areas safe for recreational use.
The water contact closures at Coronado Avenida Lunar, Imperial Beach Pier, and Carnation Avenue have been lifted, according to the County.
Several popular locations remain under advisory due to elevated bacteria levels that exceed state health standards. These include Mission Bay North Cove at Vacation Isle, Ocean Beach Dog Beach, La Jolla Cove Beachline, Del Mar San Dieguito River Outlet, San Elijo Lagoon Outlet, the Charthouse parking lot, and La Jolla Children’s Pool. Visitors to these beaches are advised to avoid contact with ocean water, which may cause illness.
Due to ongoing contamination from sewage, the Tijuana Slough Shoreline, Imperial Beach Seacoast, and Cortez, Silver Strand Shoreline remain closed.
The County emphasized that these closures will remain in effect until water testing confirms the areas are safe. The public is urged to stay out of the water at these locations to avoid potential health risks.
