Carlsbad, CA–A female motorist died Monday after she collided with another vehicle while traveling in Carlsbad, authorities said Tuesday.
Carlsbad police received a report at 11:18 p.m. of a traffic collision at the intersection of El Camino Real and Cannon Road, Carlsbad police spokesman Lieutenant Steve Thomas said.
Officers found the female driver of a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero had been traveling eastbound on Cannon Road and the female driver of a 2006 Acura had been traveling northbound on El Camino Real when they collided.
The driver of the Mitsubishi had fatal injuries. The Acura driver was not injured. The Acura driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The identity of the woman will be confirmed by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The cause of the collision is under investigation. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor.
