Poway, CA–A woman was arrested after her alleged involvement in a physical altercation with another woman in the parking lot of a daycare center in Poway on Wednesday, authorities said.
The incident occurred at 9:05 a.m. in front of Head Start Poway Day Care Center, located at 13910 Midland Road, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
During the physical altercation, while 31-year-old Chatney Norvell was seated in her vehicle, she allegedly made a threat to use a weapon against a 40-year-old woman. As Norvell tried to drive away, her vehicle struck the victim’s vehicle. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries to her face and was transported to Palomar Medical Center Poway. A weapon was not discharged, and never displayed outside of the vehicle, but one was recovered from the glove box of the vehicle. Norvell did not attempt to flee and was at the scene talking to the victim when deputies arrived.
Norvell was arrested for criminal threats, exhibiting a firearm on a daycare ground, battery with serious injury, possession of a weapon at school, and carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
After being evaluated by the fire department for a complaint of pain, Norvell was transported and booked at the Las Colinas Detention and Re-Entry Facility.
Out of an abundance of caution, Midland Elementary School was placed on a secured campus. No students or staff were in danger nor did the altercation take place directly on campus, according to officials.
