A group of death penalty opponents gathered at the steps of the Hall of Justice in downtown San Diego to announce the launch of a campaign to overturn California’s death penalty law.
The group plans to launch a signature gathering for the SAFE California Act, a ballot initiative that will replace the death penalty with life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The group needs to gather over 500,000 signatures by March to qualify for the November 2012 ballot.
