Victims identified in Lakeside killing

January 4, 2023 By sdcnews

By Gina Yarbrough

Lakeside, CA–A man who fatally shot two women, and shot and killed himself at a Lakeside residence last month was identified by the Sheriff’s Department.

Kenneth Harrington, 59, has been identified as the man who shot and killed 60-year-old Michelle Mallucci and 59-year-old Theresa Schrantz. Mallucci was Harrington’s girlfriend. The two women were sisters. Schrantz was also the grandmother to the two juveniles who were in the residence during the incident.

Harrington and Mallucci were residents of Lakeside, an unincorporated community in San Diego County. Mallucci and the two juveniles had previously lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. The juveniles have been reunited with their family in Las Vegas.

On December 30, just after 11:30 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon at the 13500 block of Interstate 8 Business. Upon arrival, deputies learned a male might have shot a female after an argument, and both were believed to still be inside the residence.

The Sheriff’s SWAT team responded to the scene and made entry into the residence. Upon making entry, deputies discovered three deceased people in the home.

The motivation and circumstances are under investigation.
