Encinitas, CA–A man lying on the grass near a row of shrubs was killed Friday when a vehicle rolled over a curb and struck the 44-year-old victim on an embankment below the parking spaces, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 3:43 p.m. in the parking lot of Enterprise Bank, located at 277 North El Camino Real, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
A 61-year-old woman was driving her vehicle through the parking lot of the bank when she rolled over the curb and struck the man. The victim was “out of sight” of the driver, authorities said.
Encinitas fire personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead. The victim’s name is being withheld until the Medical Examiner notifies the next of kin.
The driver was not injured in the collision. It has yet to be determined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
The Sheriff’s Department “STAR” team and traffic investigators from the North Coastal Sheriff Station are investigating the cause of the collision.
