OCEANSIDE–A vehicle struck a fire hydrant which caused a geyser of water to fall on nearby businesses, an Oceanside police spokesman said Saturday.
The reported hit and run accident occured Saturday afternoon on Vista Way and Avocado in Oceanside.
The geyser of water fell on rooftops of businesses located in the 2100 block of Vista Way including Eyeglass World, Submarina, and T-Mobile.
The collecting water began causing extensive structural damage including the collapsing of some roofs.
Evacuations were conducted of the entire section of suites. Oceanside Fire Department, Public Works, and City Building representatives are all on scene now conducting assessments.
There are no known witnesses to the collision at this time.
