Oceanside, CA–A fast-moving half-acre vegetation fire broke out on a hillside Thursday afternoon threatening homes in an Oceanside neighborhood, authorities said.
Vista Fire Department responded to the fire just before 4 p.m. in the 300 block of La Soledad Way.
The light-fueled blaze was moving at a rate of spread in the steep terrain, according to fire officials.
Construction crews working in the area were able to assist fire crews with directions to the blaze, which ultimately kept the overall size of the fire to under two acres.
Fire crews extinguished the fire by 4:39 and remained on the scene for an additional 45 minutes for incident overhaul.
There were no injuries to any residents or firefighters in the incident.
The fire was started by sparks from a grinding tool used by crews working on a metal fence near the initial ignition point.
