Fire_June_14_2010(1)San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the Metro Arson Strike Team are asking for assistance from the public in identifying a suspect wanted for arson.
Investigators said that on Monday, June 14 at approximately 5:30 p.m., an unknown male suspect attempted to set fire to an elevator in a condo complex located at 4041 Oakcrest Drive in San Diego. The suspect, using what appeared to be a lighter, ignited a paper sign which was hanging on the interior wall of the elevator. The sign did catch fire but was self extinguished after the sign burned up; it did not catch the rest of the elevator on fire. The suspect and his companion were last seen walking off the elevator.
The suspect is a Hispanic male, late teens to early 20’s, short dark hair with a thin build. He was wearing a light colored tank top, dark shorts, light colored socks and dark (with light colored spots) slip-on Vans style shoes.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the identity and or location of the person responsible for this crime to call the MAST Unit at (619) 236-6815 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
