Imperial Beach, CA–The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted the autopsies today and has identified the two victims of Saturday night’s shooting as 55-year-old Raquel Pitsenberger and her son, 35-year-old Marco Antonio Valadez, Jr., who also goes by “Tony.” Both are residents of San Diego.
The preliminary cause of death for Pitsenberger was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death is homicide. The preliminary cause of death for Valadez was also multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death is homicide.
Sheriff’s detectives confirmed the victims knew the suspect.
On December 4, at about 4:20 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 1300 block of Fern Avenue in Imperial Beach for a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found a woman and a man who had been shot inside the residence. Pitsenberger was pronounced dead at the scene. Valadez was transported to a local area hospital but died shortly after arriving at the medical center.
The suspect fled the scene prior to the deputies arriving.
The incident is under investigation.
