Oceanside, CA–Two people were killed early Saturday morning after their vehicle crashed into a light pole and burst into flames in Oceanside, authorities said.
Oceanside police officers responded to a report around 2:13 a.m. of a single-vehicle collision into the light pole on State Route 76 and Airport Road.
Officers arrived at the location to find the vehicle, a Dodge SUV, fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews extinguished the flames and found two occupants in the vehicle dead. There were no witnesses to the collision and the cause is unknown.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs was a factor in the collision, authorities said.
The names of the victims are being withheld pending the notification of next of kin by the Medical Examiner.
The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team conducted the investigation.
