CARLSBAD–A man and a woman were arrested early Wednesday morning in Oceanside in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Carlsbad man, the Carlsbad Police Department said.
Shortly before 5 a.m., Oceanside police officers detained 36-year-old Jay Terry and 35-year-old Lee Ann Borrell in the 100 block of South Pacific Street in Oceanside, in association with the stabbing of a 35-year-old male on Tamarack Avenue in Carlsbad. The couple have no current address. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Terry for murder and Borrell for drug related charges and identity theft. The pair will be booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
Investigators believe the apparent stabbing was the result of a verbal altercation between Terry and the victim who were known to each other.
On Wednesday at about 1:19 a.m., the Carlsbad Police Department received a call about a fight occurring in the street in the 800 block of Tamarack. It was reported that one man was down in the street and a second man had fled.
Officers arrived in two minutes and found a man in the street with what appeared to be stab wounds. They provided aid to the victim while fire department paramedics were responding to the scene of the incident.
Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
