Two Pedestrians Struck On Sidewalk, Driver Arrested

ESCONDIDO–Two adult females walking on a sidewalk suffered serious injuries after they were struck by a vehicle, Escondido police said Thursday.

Officers say the driver of the silver Cadillac CTS, 21 year-old Joshua Villavicencio of Escondido, was arrested after he fled from the collision scene, located at the intersection of Escondido Blvd. and Lincoln Ave.

The pedestrians were treated by paramedics and both were transported by air ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. Alcohol is believed to a factor. Any witnesses to the collision are asked to call Officer Braucht of the Traffic Division at (760) 839-4482.
