OCEANSIDE–North County Transit District temporarily halted Coaster and Sprinter train service this evening, following a 5.9 magnitude earthquake which struck 58 miles northeast of the San Diego area.
The stoppage was necessary to inspect the tracks for signs of earthquake related damage. No damage was found. Coaster and Sprinter train service resumed at normal operating speeds at approximately 5:52 p.m., but with the Coaster experiencing 45-50 minute delays.
