CARLSBAD–Thousands of runners, elite and amateur, are expected to hit the road and ocean next week at the 34th annual Carlsbad Triathlon on July 12.
The 7:30 a.m. starts at Tamarack Surf Beach with a 1K open water ocean swim, followed by a 25K bike course and 5K run through Carlsbad’s scenic coastline and lagoons to the finish line.
The race is the longest running triathlons in the nation, according to race organizers.
Prior to the race, a Lifestyle and Fitness Festival will be held on July 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pine Avenue Park, 3333 Harding Street in Carlsbad.
The festival will feature shopping, vendors, music, food booths, demonstrations, and a Family Fitness Fun Zone.
