Thousands Flock To The Beaches On 4th Of July

July 5, 2018 By sdcnews

OCEANSIDE–The 4th of July holiday drew thousands of visitors to the beaches throughout San Diego county on Wednesday.

At the Oceanside Pier, beachgoers blanketed the shorelines with pop-up tents, tables, beach towels and barbecue grills.

Lifeguards on duty kept a watchful eye as people flocked to the ocean to cool down from the summer heat.

The Oceanside police department added additional officers to the Oceanside Pier and The Strand.

Other activities at the beach featured food and retail vendor booths, live performances, and the 16th annual Yankee Doodle Dinghy Parade at the harbor.

Participants at the parade decorated their dinghies with flags and ribbons, and parading them around the inner harbor where they were judged for best patriotic dinghy.

There were no reported incidents at the beaches.
