SAN DIEGO–The County of San Diego, Department of Environmental Health has issued a Do Not Drink Notice and Public Notification for Lake Morena Views Mutual Water Company after test results found nitrate in the water supply.
Recent water sample results showed nitrate levels exceeded the maximum contaminant levels in the water distribution system. The water system serves a population of approximately 123 residential connections and a general store.
The public is advised not to drink tap water from the Lake Morena Views Mutual Water Company until further notice. Boiling, freezing, filtering, or letting tap water stand will not reduce the nitrate level. Nitrates in drinking water arise from natural, industrial, or agricultural sources (including septic systems, storm water run-off, and fertilizers).
The Do Not Drink Notice will remain in effect until nitrate levels are confirmed to be below the safe drinking water standards.
