IMPERIAL BEACH–A teen crossing the street in Imperial Beach on Monday suffered minor injuries after she was struck by a pick-up truck, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.
Deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation responded to a report of a 14-year old girl who was struck by the truck just before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Imperial Beach Boulevard and Connecticut Street.
The victim was taken to the hospital with minor scrapes and is expected to recover from her injuries. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Witnesses told deputies the victim was wearing headphones when she started crossing the street after the pickup truck was making a left turn from eastbound Imperial Beach Boulevard onto northbound Connecticut Street. The truck struck the victim at a low rate of speed.
The incident remains under investigation.
